Adult-use cannabis tax collections are aggregated from monthly collection figures published by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. New York State’s fiscal year runs from April 1 through March 31.
Quarterly values are calculated by summing monthly collection figures into calendar quarters. Because adult-use cannabis taxes are recorded on a filing/remittance schedule, collection activity may spike in the last month of a quarter.
Dispensary totals include all current operational dispensaries. Total local AUC tax revenue includes all distributions made to counties and New York City.
New York City includes the five boroughs/counties: Bronx, Brooklyn/Kings, Manhattan/New York, Queens, and Staten Island/Richmond.
“Downstate” includes counties located on Long Island and in the Mid-Hudson region. “Upstate” includes counties located in the Capital District, Central New York, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, North Country, Southern Tier, and Western New York regions.
